Radon Symptoms

radon symptoms, radon gas symptoms, radon levels
There are several signs that radon gas has affected someone in your home. However, by the time you see these symptoms surface, an underlying health problem may have already developed. In order to avoid these symptoms, as well as a potentially critical health crisis, have Cincinnati Radon Mitigation test your home frequently.
Radon exposure in any concentration can affect your health. Therefore, testing and mitigation are services that you shouldn’t put off any longer!

Radon Symptoms
As radon experts, we’ve seen every level of radon gas in homes and businesses. Many of our customers have expressed regret that they did not have radon testing done sooner, especially those who have suffered from the following symptoms:
  • Respiratory infections
  • Raspy voice
  • Laryngitis
  • Uncontrollable coughing
  • Coughing up blood
  • Chest tightness
  • Chest pain
Some of these symptoms are quite severe, and you wouldn’t hesitate to go to the doctor if they presented themselves. However, a scratchy throat or hoarseness with no other symptoms would be easy to ignore but could quickly escalate.
In many cases, long-term radon exposure leads to lung cancer. In fact, radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer after smoking. It’s estimated that there are around 20,000 cases of lung cancer in the U.S. each year as a result of radon poisoning, and of those, 5,000 to 6,000 result in death.
Lung cancer is one of the deadliest forms of cancer because many tumors are inoperable. Avoiding lung cancer at all costs is the only reasonable course of action.

Radon Gas Symptoms

Like most people, you would probably do anything for the ones you love. If not for your own health, consider radon testing and subsequent testing for their benefit.
Children are far more likely to develop cancer due to radon exposure, and because their bodies are still growing, radon gas can cause several other types of cancer in children that are not nearly as common in adults, such as leukemia. Studies are underway to investigate the connection between radon gas and skin cancer as well.
Radon can even affect pets living in your home. If you notice lethargy, loss of appetite, or respiratory problems, it could mean that radon has negatively affected your pet’s health, even if they appear healthy otherwise.

Cincinnati Radon Mitigation knows that the health of your loved ones is extremely important to you, so we’ll do everything in our power to protect them as if they were our own!
Within a matter of months, a home that had practically non-existent radon gas levels can become a toxic place to live due to leaks, shifting in the ground, and weather changes. Cincinnati Radon Mitigation recommends that you have frequent testing done, and when you do, try to plan it for different times during the year.
Radon testing takes up to 90 days, depending on your home’s radon levels, so get started right away by making a simple phone call. The sooner you know that radon is present in your home, the sooner we can begin steps to remediate excess radon in your home.
